Meet Melissa
I want you to actually like your photos.
That’s the whole job. Everything else, I’ll handle.
The Photographer
Most people don’t love having their photo taken.
I get it, and I’ve built everything around making it easy anyway.
I keep things calm and unhurried, and I guide you the whole way: where to stand, what to do with your hands, how to get a real laugh out of a squirmy toddler. You don’t have to be photogenic. You don’t have to perform. You just have to show up.
I also handle the parts that usually make this stressful. I scout the location ahead of time and match it to you and the light. I send a simple prep guide so you know exactly what to wear and what to expect. And afterward, you get every edited image from your session. No proof gallery to sort, no favorites to pick, no upsells. Just your full gallery, ready to keep.
How I Got Here
I found my way into this through education. Before portraits, I was behind the camera for everything from pre-K kids discovering how their bodies move to high schoolers making core memories at school dances. Watching those ordinary moments turn into something families wanted to hold onto is what made me fall for this work. Photography not as a record, but as a celebration.
Since then I’ve grown into families, maternity and newborns, couples, seniors, and headshots. The throughline never changed: photos that feel warm and real, and actually look like the people in them.
Off the Clock
When I’m not shooting, I’m usually with my family and our two dogs, reading under a blanket, or planning my next project over a matcha. I’m based in Sacramento and I work with families all over the region, for the big moments and the ordinary ones.
Let’s make something that feels like you.
Let's ChatMy goal isn’t just to take beautiful photos. It’s to help you feel seen.
I want your images to reflect who you are, elevated in a way that still feels natural, so you can look back on your gallery with joy, and maybe even a little awe. You don’t need to wait for a milestone. Now is reason enough.
